We are currently seeking dedicated individuals or experienced crews to join our team as full-time, year-round Deck Builders in the Charlevoix area.

Position Overview:

The Deck Builder is responsible for assisting in the construction, renovation, and completion of residential and commercial decks and outdoor structures. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in attention to detail, and want to grow within a company that values quality and teamwork.

No prior deck-building experience is required — we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, reliability, and a desire to learn. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining real-world experience in modern building techniques, product systems, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the construction and assembly of wood, composite, and PVC decking systems.

• Follow plans, layouts, and specifications to ensure precise and professional results.

• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently (training provided as needed).

• Load and unload materials, stage job sites, and maintain organized work areas.

• Support the lead builder or foreman with measurements, framing, and installation tasks.

• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.

• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow and daily goals.

• Represent Renew It Decks in a professional and courteous manner on every project site.

Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation to and from work sites.

• Must be punctual, dependable, and eager to learn.

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Positive attitude and willingness to take direction.

• Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools is helpful (training available).

• No experience necessary — we will train the right person who is motivated and ready to work.

• Must adhere to all company safety and quality standards.

Preferred (but not required):

• Prior experience in carpentry, framing, construction, or related trades.

• Familiarity with decking materials such as Trex, TimberTech, Deckorators, Wolf, or MoistureShield.

• Ability to read blueprints or work from drawings.

• Leadership or crew experience a plus (opportunities available for qualified leads).

Schedule & Work Environment:

• Day shift: Monday–Friday

• Typical hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with some seasonal flexibility)

• Overtime opportunities may be available during peak season

• Year-round work (not a seasonal position)

• Work is primarily outdoors at multiple locations across Northern Michigan

Management & Team Structure:

• Reports to: Team Lead / Project Manager

• Works alongside: 6–10 employees per shift

• Supervised on-site by experienced Lead Builders and Crew Leaders who provide mentorship and direction.

Compensation & Pay Structure:

• Pay frequency: Every other week

• Competitive wages based on skill, reliability, and performance
